Attitude is everything
Dear blog diary,
“The only thing stronger than an enthusiastic attitude is a bad attitude, because an enthusiastic attitude will certainly be tested whereas a bad attitude will absolutely be given the opportunity to be reinforced.” — Me
Today I spoke with the founder of Mazunte, a household name in Cincinnati as far as authentic Mexican cuisine. I asked him what he attests to his success. I asked what is success? I asked him if he ever wanted to give up.
He told me that resilience was the key factor. He told me that success for him was building an organization where people can come to work and regardless of their education, age, personality, etc. that they can be themselves. When I asked him if he ever wanted to give up, he said “fuck no.”
I found most fascinating was that he started the business at 30 years old, broke, and living in his parents’ basement. I’m 32 and chasing this dream to be a copywriter. Sounds about right.
I find myself at a crossroads where I’ve certainly wanted to give up. I’ve heard the word “no” countless times, and I’ve had some bad beats, the ones where you think to yourself “this is where something has to give” but it doesn't. Resilience, being yourself, and a hearty sense of “fuck no.”
Attitude is everything.
Best regards,
Eric
