My favorite band

Last week I saw Budos Band, my favorite band of all time. I’ve had this conversation many times since about what genre they are. Honestly, I have no idea.

First got hip to Budos through my crewmate Skeme Richards.

Their music has meant something to me for the majority of my life. When I listen, I feel like myself. It was surreal to see them again as the man I am now, thinking of the young man I was then. Still dancing in a crowd.

I saw them 15 years ago? In Columbus. I think it was either a day after or it might’ve been the day of when Sandra Schneider came to the US.

I rarely call her my ex. I simply refer to her as the best person I’ve ever known. And, more than once I’ve told her, “Sandy’s the woman god gives you young, so you can truly understand regret.”

I love her in a way that is unique to any person on earth. Not romantically or even in a way I can explain.

I can/will sing her praises and the few times I speak to her today, I’m overjoyed at the person she has become and the life she is leading. But I wonder.

Ochuko and Hannah have the best love/marriage I have seen in my life. Enviously, I want that.

I wonder if Sandy was my chance and it doesn’t happen twice. It’s not a sad thing. I live a full life, have great relationships, love the mirror. Marriage is hard work, lot of compromise, nightmare at times.

Dating today does suck. When did that happen?

Used to be fun and exciting. Am I cynical or just wise? When I have my reservations, is that my scarred hand knowing not to touch the pot or am I not giving a clean slate? What does it mean when it goes exactly how I think it will?

What I am saying is, they don’t make em like Sandy no more.

The best hand in poker is the best hand. The worst hand is the second best hand, because you bet thinking you can win, and then lose.

Got to know when to hold onto the ones in your life, and when to fold, walk away, and sometimes run.

And if Budos is playing, when to dance.
