Words are tough
Dear Blog Diary,
Words are like cameras but harder to use. Try it. Look around you and describe what you see. There’s a peacock blue chair with a rough tweed texture to it. A mahogany end table sits on its left side. The finish is shiny and sleek, giving contrast. A photo conveys that instantly.
The saying goes “a picture says a thousand words.” I would clarify in saying “a picture describes a thousand details” and rebuttal saying, “but one million words describe one emotion.”
If you don’t believe me, look at the person you love most, or your mother, or your best friend. Do you think a camera can truly encapsulate that feeling? The ironic tougher question is, can your words? All the beauty, pain, admiration, love…deep rooted and authentic. What that person means to you, how you cherish the times spent, why their existence has profoundly impacted the trajectory of your life. Can you convey that?
But the most important question is, do you try?
Peace,
Eric
