A true romantic

Dear Blog Diary,

A Romantic - “A person who easily expresses love and/or falling in love.”

That’s my definition.

I use terms loosely and we’d have to define the word “love” in the first place, but a person who can easily be moved with emotion from the simple or complex beauty of a thing. I do view myself this way.

Damnit I miss Bourdain. I think what draws me in most with him is that we are both romantics. I like to think that man had such a beautiful romantic view of the world and then think about how he had the opportunity to find out. He got to live out all the places in the world that he once dreamt of, or however that place came into his life.

Think about if you had the opportunity to do the same. “No Reservations” starring, you.

For me, well for starters I’d have to visit Vietnam. Have to really pin down my mom’s heritage further than Kentucky. I’d have to go to Ghana and I’d have to take Ofori.

Japan obviously. I’d have to go to Spain and then travel to Morocco by boat, and on to Egypt via caravan, my tribute to The Alchemist. Seattle for Bruce Lee’s grave, Yosemite for El cap, the southern plains of Oklahoma home of the Comanche and Quanah Parker. And we haven’t even touched on the women I’ve fallen in love with. Puerto Rico.

January always goes by in a blink and every year seems to go by faster and faster.

This is my wish for everyone to live your lives as full as you can and chase whatever it is you truly long for. Go far, stay in. Growing isn’t an exact science. More importantly, I wish for everyone to keep or develop that sense of romance with the world. Especially with the little things and the mundane, there’s beauty in it.

As always, talk is cheap. Every day is an opportunity.

Let’s get after it.
