Dear Blog Diary,

“If a tree falls in the woods and one person is around to hear it, does it make a sound?” - Me, some years back

It makes me think of a conversation I had with my dear friend Marty. Don’t even remember the topic but he gave a statistic to illustrate a point and I said “I believe that.”

Now, statistics are tricky but the core concept remains — it doesn’t matter what you believe. What is, is.

So now it just depends on the person telling you about the tree.

My favorite works of art have repeat value. Revisiting XYZ when you have changed and XYZ hasn’t.

Thing is, unless it’s like a director’s cut or something, XYZ literally hasn’t changed and neither has the perspective in that thing. The characters say the same things, the frame is the exact frame, and never has Shawshank been the story of Red’s experience in prison.

I rewatched Game of Thrones for the first time last year. I always hesitated just because the end is so shitty.

I was reminded just how good early GOT really was, but it’s funny how my favorites changed.

First watch: Jamie Jon Bron Tyrion.

Rewatch: Jon Tyrion Aria (big time) and surprisingly to me, Tywin.

Maybe I am getting old.

Tywin is a ruthless prick but homeboy stand on business! If he only had a speck of claim to the throne, he would win the game.

I always loved Jamie the most. Now, probably Jon.

Makes me wonder how else I’ve changed, what younger Eric would say about my world now. Probably some dumb shit, and 50 year old Eric will think now-Eric is a moron.

But today, we have many perspectives on the same thing.

However you feel about ICE and recent events, this is what alarms me most.

Footage from every angle and we still define what is. That includes you, me, everyone.
